We are looking for positive, dependable people to join us behind the scenes in the run up to our Christmas at the Movies concert and beyond.

Your contribution counts

In return for a few hours effort each term, you can:
  • Help our young singers shine in regular concert performances
  • Support BYS in recruiting children into the choir
  • Make a contribution to the musical life of our community’s children

Front Desk

All Committee Members are asked to give a few mornings each term to run the front desk on a Saturday while the rehearsal takes place. Front desk duty involves:

  • Setting up/Clearing away
  • Providing refreshments to choir members plus MD and accompanist
  • Supporting our Val Barnish, our Choir Administrator
  • Staying up to date with preparations for the next performance

Committee Roles and Responsibilities

The key roles are detailed below, along with current post-holders, where appropriate. All posts can be contested at the AGM in October along with those roles that are currently without an incumbent.

Chair:

Steven Cammiss: Ensure BYS runs in accordance with its constitution. Set up and chair committee meetings and AGM. Oversee the running of the committee and its tasks. Liaise with Musical Director to establish medium and long term strategies for the choir. Seek funding as appropriate. Represent the committee at public events.

Treasurer:

POST VACANT: Oversee the financial affairs of BYS and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice. Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place. Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.

Secretary:

POST VACANT: Ruth Ashby (co-opted 2018): Liaise with choir administrator. Communicate with parents/carers. Provide agendas, take and distribute minutes.

General Committee Member - Funding:

Sue Wright: Seek funding as appropriate; liaise with chair, treasurer and Musical Director regarding cost and funding requirements.

General Committee Member Events:

Nick Owen: Liaise with venues and with choir administrator regarding consent forms, travel arrangements, etc. Oversee setting up and clearing of venues.

General Committee Member Publicity:

Ruth Ashby: Develop marketing material and distribute these through social media/email/flyers/posters as appropriate.

General Committee Member Recruitment:
